Speaker:Prof. Doyle Knight

Host: Prof. Yan Hong

Time: May 24, 2017, 2:00pm-4:00pm

Place: Conference room 225, School of Power & Energy

Topic: Shock Wave Laminar Boundary Layer Interaction

Shock wave boundary layer interaction is a common phenomena in high speed flight. The capability to accurately predict the aerothermodynamic loading on aerospace vehicles is important for effective design. Two specific configurations are considered-a hollow cylinder flare and a blunt fin attached to a flat plate. CFD simulations are presented for each case to examine the flowfield structure and compare with experimental data.
