Introduction:

Aeroelasticity belonging to the category of fluid-structure coupling problem involves multi-disciplines, such as aerodynamics and elastics.Fluid-structure aeroelastic coupling leads to structural vibration. Inthe context of compressors and turbines of aero-engines, the vibration is of high cycle nature and can lead to high-cycle fatigue which adversely affects blade’s life and safe operation of compressors/turbines. Therefore, turbomachinery aeroelasticity is a vitally important subject. Prof. Kielb will lecture on turbomachinery aeroelasticity through four talks: fundamentals of turbine blade flutter, forced response of mistuned compressor blades, nonsynchronous vibration and low pressure turbine blade flutter.
