主题:Innovations in Manufacturing - Drivers and Paradigms

内容简介:

Innovations are critical for technology progress and wealth creation. Innovations In manufacturing is not only imperative for competition but also for the long term vitality of the business. Following an introduction on the changing scenes in global manufacturing, a summary on innovation theories and recent developments in open innovation will be presented.

The basic issues of critical thinking and the implications to innovative design and manufacturing will be addressed. Innovation is perceived as a key driver for achieving high value manufacturing which is a national goal in the UK. The central theme of this presentation will be discussed under six main headings: process intensification, process substitution, interface between different disciplines, new philosophies, information and communication technology and new grand challenges. Numerous examples on process and product innovation will be given to support the presentation.

报告人简介

Professor Bernard Hon

School of Engineering, University of Liverpool

Professor Bernard Hon is the former holder of the Chair in Manufacturing Systems at the University of Liverpool in the UK. His research focuses on advanced manufacturing technology, sustainable manufacturing and manufacturing systems analysis. In addition to research and teaching, he is also actively engaged as a national assessor to Innovate UK on industry-led projects.

Professor Hon serves on numerous professional institutions, research organizations and government bodies at national and international levels. He was a member of the UK government think-tank on Technology Foresight and a member of the Engineering Panel of the Hong Kong Research Assessment Exercise in 2014. Professor Hon has published over 120 scientific papers and delivered 12 keynote papers in major international conferences. He is a Fellow of the International Academy for Production Engineering (CIRP).
