School of Marine Engineering

The School of Marine Engineering is one of the three characteristic fields – Aeronautics, Astronautics and Marine Engineering that NPU excels at. The School has a long history of excellent research and teaching in Marine Engineering. Its predecessor was the Third Department of Northwestern Engineering College, which was originally established by the State Council in 1956. The Department of Marine Engineering was founded based on the Third Department, and later in 2003, the Department was renamed the School of Marine Engineering. The School of Marine Engineering has four departments offering six undergraduate degree programs, sixteen graduate programs and five post-doctoral positions.

The School has 117 faculty and staff members including three members of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 31 professors, 36 associate professors and 12 senior engineers. The School has an enrollment of 1032 undergraduates, 398 postgraduates and 184 Ph.D. candidates.
